Review and Upgrade of National Emergency Services Communications
The radio systems of a national provider of emergency distress and safety services were aging and resulted in high operational costs. The organisation faced major organisational and technology changes, in order to meet future needs.
After conducting a strategic review, Caravel recommended a 10-year plan which included an upgrade of the radio infrastructure and a competitive tender for the operation of the safety services. Caravel then managed the project which encompassed the engagement of new service providers, and the construction of a new operations centre and new radio facilities. Once the first phase of the plan was successfully implemented, Caravel handed ongoing management back to the client to continue implementation. As a result of improved commercial, operational and technological approach, the client was able to halve their radio service costs and continued to meet their changing international and national commitments.
