Outsourcing Transformation Program
Following a successful bid to outsource telecommunications services, Caravel was engaged to deliver the transformation program to convert existing solutions to the successful outsource solutions. The work was separated into portfolios, programs and projects covering Call Centres, Voice projects, EFTPOS, Internet, Video and RAS projects. The portfolios and programs of works were managed using a purpose built PMO. Caravel led the day to day management of the project managers, risk management, resource management, budget management, liaison with the outsource client and negotiating contracts with suppliers. The transformation program was successfully delivered.

Business Process Discovery and Documentation
The client organisation wanted to separate its network and marketing functions, which required over 1.5 million customer contracts to be restructured and quarantined. A workshop based approach with all stakeholders was adopted in order to determine the future environment.
Caravel led the discovery and documentation of business processes which culminated in the development and implementation of a Telecommunications Service Order Management System (TSOM) based on a constraints-based rule. Caravel’s output was accepted by the client as the basis for proceeding with a pilot system for a contract management solution as well as complex service provision and management.

Change of Telecommunications Service Provider
A major banking institution wanted to ensure that it was receiving best value for money for its telecommunications expenditure. They wanted to determine available options, to ensure that the telecommunications services effectively supported the bank in growing and maintaining its business.
Caravel managed the tender process that sought a provider capable of implementing and managing telecommunications services that supported the client’s strategic objectives. The tender process resulted in the selection of a new telecommunications service provider that satisfied the bank’s requirements for service, innovation and value. Caravel successfully managed the transition to the new service provider.

Implementation of a Safety Critical System
Caravel’s client had identified the need to implement a safety critical system into their fleet of vehicles. The client had already determined the technology solution but did not have the capability to deliver the implementation. Based on similar work performed for another client, Caravel was engaged to implement the solution and to demonstrate improved safety of the client operated network. Caravel’s scope included all technical and change management matters including industrial relations, training, operations management, safety engineering and commercial aspects. Security (physical and information) was a critical aspect of this deployment. The system was successfully deployed into the target vehicles.

Implementing a Safety Critical System
Caravel was engaged by the client to plan and execute a safety critical project to implement a safety system into the fleet of vehicles. The delivery project was required to meet the regulatory body requirements including delivery of the safety case. The program of work covered multiple integrated projects covering system development and deployment, operational deployment, a comprehensive change management approach for operators and maintainers, and the implementation of specialist advisory services to quantify and qualify the approach being adopted in support of the safety case. Caravel successfully delivered a high performing team that planned and executed the program of work delivering the project ahead of schedule and under budget.
